A weekly parcel run for families in the Warren Street area, run with two local shops and about a dozen volunteers.
Thursday morning, packing for the afternoon run
What it is. Every Thursday a team packs and delivers food parcels to households who have asked for help, or who have been referred by a school or a health visitor. There is no assessment and no paperwork beyond a name and an address.
How it works
Two shops on Warren Street set aside stock on Wednesday evening. On Thursday morning a team sorts it into parcels, and by early afternoon those go out by car and on foot. A typical week is thirty to forty households.
If a family needs something specific, a nappy size, a dietary requirement, we try to match it rather than hand over a standard box.
Asking for help
Call or send a message. Nobody will ask why, and nothing is passed on to anyone else. If it is more urgent than Thursday, say so and we will work something out.
Helping out
Volunteers are always useful, particularly drivers. An hour on a Thursday is enough to be worth it. Get in touch and someone will explain what a shift looks like.
