Hannah Boyd

Grew up here, left, and came home again.

A quiet street corner in a small town

I grew up in Millbrook and could not wait to leave. I moved to the city at eighteen and did not come back for ten years.

When my mum got ill I moved home to look after her. Her neighbour went to Northgate Chapel and started dropping round with meals. After a few weeks I went with her on a Sunday, mostly to say thank you.

I had left church behind with everything else. Coming back felt less like returning to something and more like finding it for the first time.

What I would say to someone thinking about coming

It is never too late to come home.

But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion.

Luke 15:20
